This one day workshop designed for saxophonists with no or very limited experience of playing in an ensemble. The workshop has been created for players who are around grade 1 - 3 standard. During the day we will play a variety of ensemble pieces that have been specifically written for us. Each piece will focus on a number of learning points.

At the Beginners’ Ensemble Day we will cover:

  1. The role of a conductor - why they do and why we need them

  2. Beat patterns - what they are and how to follow them

  3. Listening - How to follow others and why it’s important

  4. Pulse and Rhythm - Why they are they both so important to music making

It will be a fun filled, relaxed workshop that will build your confidence and improve your playing.

Please note that this is not a workshop to teach you how to play the saxophone, it is focused on teaching you how to play as part of an ensemble. You do not need to have passed any grade exams to come to the workshop but it is essential that you can read musical notation.

Under 18s are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
